Research Floating

One on the main specifications we need to meet in that the performance space must be floating. As this is an area I have not looked at before I wanted to do some research into this. Our guest speakers gave us some ideas where to start with the Badeschiff Berlin Barge.

Badeschiff Berlin Barge

Badeschiff in German means “bathing ship”, from this shell of an old industrial bage AMP arquitectos in collaboration with Gil Wilk and the artist Susanne Lorenz have created a huge heated swimming pool, that floats in the river Spree.The project allows the citizens to swim in a clean environment near the river since the river itself isn’t very safe.In winter it is covered over to make a sauna and keep the pool warm.The original project wanted to be mobile and to be anchored in a different place each year but while searching for an operating company the ship was permanently docked in the area of Kulturarena Veransteltungs.

A barge is a long, large, usually flatbottom boat for transporting freight that is generally unpowered and towed or pushed by other craft. A barge has also developed into a large, open pleasure boat used for parties, pageants, or formal ceremonies.

House Barge: Old barges are now being renovated into luxurious large homes. Being build in man different styles and developing as technology increases.
